A scaffold of pure titanium was manufactured by 3D printing. The sample was metallographically mounted and polished for standard nanoindentation. The Young’s modulus and hardness were measured by standard nanoindentation (N = 32) as: E = 120.5 ± 12.3 GPa, H = 2.67 ± 0.22 GPa, and HV = 252 ± 20 kg/mm2.
TiAlN is used as a protective overcoat for dies and other tools in the automotive industry. The Young’s modulus and hardness of an industrial TiAlN coating were measured by standard nanoindentation (N = 32) as: E = 382 ± 17.5 GPa, H = 25.0 ± 1.5 GPa, HV = 2365 ± 139 kg/mm2.
Applied Nanometrix, LLC, offers a quarterly verification service to ensure that your nanoindenter is always ready for testing. In most cases, verification is done remotely with minimal disruption to regular operations. Additional support hours can be added to the annual contract which can be used for new operator training and testing advice.
